How Do I Create and Delete Custom Fields in GoHighLevel?

Short answer

Go to Settings, then Custom Fields, choose the object, and click Create field. To delete a field, find it in that list and click the trash icon, which permanently removes it from every form, survey, and contact that used it.

Checked against HighLevel’s help center on . HighLevel updates its interface often, so match the labels you see on screen.

Create a custom field

  1. 1In the sub-account, go to Settings, then Custom Fields
  2. 2Use the object selector at the top to choose Contact, Opportunity, or another object
  3. 3On the Fields tab, click Create field and pick a field type
  4. 4Enter the field name and choose a folder
  5. 5Check the Live preview, then click Create custom field

Choose the object carefully

A field’s object can’t change after creation. Only Contact fields appear in forms and contact workflows, so a field built for the wrong object has to be recreated.

To group fields, open the Folders tab on the same page, click Create folder, enter a name, and click Create. Folders show up as sections inside the record, which keeps related fields together.

Delete a custom field

  • Go to Settings, then Custom Fields, find the field, and click the trash icon
  • The delete is permanent and removes the field from all forms, surveys, and contacts that used it
  • Removing a field from 1 form leaves it in the account. That’s why deleted form fields keep showing up in the form builder.
  • Deleting an option from a dropdown, radio, or checkbox field keeps that value on records that already have it
  • Standard fields like first name, email, and phone are built in and can’t be modified or deleted

To make a custom value, click New Custom Value and fill in the name and value. HighLevel builds the key from the name, and renaming the value later doesn’t change its key.
