How Do I Create an Email Template in GoHighLevel?
Short answer
Go to Marketing, then Emails, then Templates and click + New. Start from the Template Library or from scratch, build the email, and click Save Template. You can then send it as a campaign or use it in a workflow’s Send Email action.

Build the template
- 1Go to Marketing, then Emails, then Templates and click + New
- 2Pick a design from the Template Library, or start from scratch and choose an editor
- 3In the Design Editor, use Add Elements to drag in text, images, buttons, dividers, social icons, video, code, and a footer
- 4Set the background, body color, and content width under Appearance
- 5Click Save Template
Add custom values
The inline editor has a custom-value picker that adds personal details, like a recipient’s name, to your text. Custom Values also work in color fields such as Background Color and Button Color, and the canvas shows the new color right away.
Use it in campaigns and workflows
- For a campaign, go to Marketing, then Emails, then Campaigns, click New, then Select Template, then choose Send or Schedule
- You can also open the template’s 3-dot menu on the Templates tab and pick Create Campaign
- In a workflow, add a Send Email action and choose Select Existing Template
Check the sync setting
In a workflow, Sync Edits to Template links the email to its source template, so editing either can change both. It’s off by default for new Send Email actions. To copy the latest template into chosen workflows without ongoing sync, use Sync Changes on the template’s 3-dot menu, then Sync Once.
Send a test first
In the template, open the 3-dot action menu, choose Test Email, fill in the sender and recipient, and click Send Test Email. Workflow emails have their own Test Emails field and Send Test Mail button inside the Send Email action.
