How Do Pipelines and Opportunities Work in GoHighLevel?

Short answer

A pipeline is your sales process, its stages are the steps, and each opportunity is 1 deal moving through them. Build pipelines under Opportunities, then Pipelines, add opportunities by hand, by CSV, or by workflow, and mark each one Open, Won, Lost, or Abandoned.

Checked against HighLevel’s help center on . HighLevel updates its interface often, so match the labels you see on screen.

TermWhat it means
PipelineYour overall sales process
Stage1 step in that process, like New Lead or Booked Call
Opportunity1 potential deal moving through a pipeline
StatusOpen, Won, Lost, or Abandoned. New opportunities start as Open.

Create a pipeline and stages

  1. 1Go to Opportunities, then Pipelines
  2. 2Click Create new pipeline, enter a name, and save. Names must be unique in the sub-account.
  3. 3Enter a stage name and click Add stage for each step in your process
  4. 4Reorder stages with the up and down arrows, and use the funnel and pie chart icons to control what shows in reports

To delete a stage, click its trash icon and pick a destination stage, and HighLevel moves that stage’s opportunities there. HighLevel’s guide shows this in the updated Pipelines page, which you turn on from Labs in the sub-account.

Add and move opportunities

  • For a single deal, go to Opportunities, click Add opportunity, pick or create the contact, choose the pipeline and stage, and click Create
  • Import a CSV from Opportunities, then Import, select Opportunities, and map your columns
  • Open an opportunity to change its stage, or drag its card onto a status at the bottom of the board
  • In a workflow, the Create/Update Opportunity action sets the pipeline and stage. Turn on Allow Opportunity to Move so the record updates when the contact re-enters.

Lost reasons

When you mark an opportunity Lost, HighLevel lets you add a lost reason. To change the reasons your team can pick, go to Settings, then Custom Fields, select Lost Reason, and click Bulk Actions, then Edit. Renaming a reason updates it everywhere it already appears.

To review lost deals, open Opportunities, click Advanced Filters, set Status to Lost, and click Apply.
