How Do I Create an SMS Template in GoHighLevel?

Create a Text Snippet

1. 1In the sub-account, open Conversations and select Snippets
2. 2Click + New Snippet, then Add Text Snippet
3. 3Give it a name your team can search for, then write the message
4. 4Add Custom Values for details like the contact’s first name
5. 5Check the character and segment count, then click Save

Snippets also open from Marketing → , then Snippets. Use New Folder to group them and the three-dot menu to move, edit, duplicate, or delete a snippet. Anyone using them from Conversations needs View & Manage Conversations access.

Use it in a conversation

Open the contact’s conversation, pick the text channel, click the Snippets icon in the message composer, and choose your snippet. It fills the composer, so you can edit it before you send.

Use it in a workflow

1. 1In Automation → , then Workflows, open the workflow and add a Send SMS action
2. 2Choose your saved message under Templates
3. 3Click Send test SMS to see how it reads on a phone
4. 4Save the action, test the workflow, and publish it

Keep it short

Each 160 characters is 1 billed segment, and an emoji drops that to 70 by switching the text to Unicode. HighLevel also adds “Thanks,” and your business name to the first text a new contact gets, plus “Reply STOP to unsubscribe” unless the message already has an opt-out line, so leave room for them.
